Weekend action – BMC and SWL

SOUTHERN WOMEN'S LEAGUE - Walton
Liz ran 2:19 and 4:40 to revise her pbs yet again. Great stuff. Getting to new levels with that 1500 time. Liz is now top three in the UK at 800, 1500 and 3000 in the W35 rankings. (Liz returned to competition on Sunday to win the Dorking 10 Mile race and with it the Surrey Championship!)
Christina was unlucky that the 800 b-string was run on its own but I'm told she looked good front running 2:26. She followed that up with 64 in the individual and 62 in the relay 400s.
Molly ran inside 5 for the first time to run 4:55. Excellent stuff - well done for getting round the relay for the team 20min later too!
BMC YA MEETING - Milton Keynes Results Here
Maddie squeezed out a pb in the chase but left disappointed. It'll all be good at the Schools don't worry! Maddie is top 10 in the UK and 5th of those eligible for the English Schools.
Bradley (pictured) ran a 6 second 1500 pb for 4:00 and a place in the UK top 10. Decisions to be made now about which event to target at the schools. Jack also got a pb of 4:09 and will be hoping to run quicker with his knees sorted.
Rebecca was unfortunate in that her race was not paced at the pace required for ES qualifying. Going through 800 in just under 2:40 they were nearer 5min pace than 4:50 pace, but a storming last 600 saw her get down to 4:53 by the finish. This will have been a great workout ahead of the Southerns and fingers crossed she can run the time there - she's certainly fit enough.
Ross was right on the pace maker in the 800 and ran a pb of 1:54. Most importantly this was ES qualifying and we can now focus on getting ready for Birmingham.
Jivendra's 800 season to date has gone 2:16, 2:19, 2:13, 2:11 but today he was committed and concentrated fully on the job. The result? 2:04 a 7 second pb! 6th in the UK and fastest bottom year U15. Well done.
We now have 5 athletes with English Schools qualifying standards and waiting for the verdict of selectors. Hopefully Rebecca will join that list and we could have 6 from the squad in Birmingham this year. We now have to make sure we prepare fully for the challenges of heats and finals at the biggest schools stage. For the slightly older athletes, well, Liz will be looking for even more improvement and a good show at the Southern Champs next month.
