Met League (3) – 28th November – Wormwood Scrubs

Some good performances today from a slightly smaller team than normal following on from the school races this week...

U13 girls - Another win for Rebecca who dealt with the windy conditions well, sitting in with the lead group and then putting her foot down in the woods and kicking like crazy at the final corner - a very mature run, well done. Kirsty was a strong 6th on her Met League début.   With Ella, Hollie and Anna all running well yesterday at the Richmond race the possibilities in this age group are good.  We just need to get everyone out at the Middlesex and Southern races.... put the dates in your diaries now!!

U15/17 girls - Maddie had a great run in 3rd, showing her true current fitness state after really committing to training recently - well done and even more to come Maddie, I hope you're believing now! Katie was as competitive as ever, finishing in 4th, up two from the last race - imagine how good you'd be if you had time to train Katie ;-) .  Richmond XC and Lord Mayor Mile Champion Molly had another good run in 8th and Florence completed the scorers in 17th.  Bella finished in 20th - an excellent run for a first year U15.  She was the third of our team to be running their 2nd race in two days.  We extended our lead at the top of the table and if the team win the league again this year much of it will be down to those three runs today.

U15/17 boys - Jack tempod round in 9th.  He wants a sign next time so others in the race know he's not going full pelt.  Let them think whatever they want, as long as you know what you are doing. Adam was our 2nd scorer with Eoin, Tomm and Ollie following on.  Joss continued his return from injury too.   Bradley didn't make the start line with a sore throat and Ross limited the damage when he felt his throat was sore.   If people ever have a sore throat the course of action is don't run.  We always have to keep the bigger picture in mind and touchwood these guys will be ok in a couple of days after listening to their bodies.  Jack will have been delighted at the 12 point Winter Tour haul!

Senior Women - Liz Kipling was our sole representative and she had another excellent run in 13th.

Senior Men - Tim passed people all the way after a steady start and ended up in 77th.  Grant got the better of me in a good race over the last mile! 107th for Grant and 112th for me (85 places down on last year!!).  Mike made his first XC appearance for the club in 140th and Nobby followed in 274th.  A couple of injuries to stalwarts Gary and Stu and Andy obviously saving himself for the New Year (?!) denied us a record turnout.

Official results will be available HERE

Info for next year -  Parking is available in the hospital car park and is free on Saturdays.  Enter via the gap between the hospital and the prison (Artillery Lane) on Du Cane Road.  See the MAP.
